PILSDON AT MALLING COMMUNITY

The Community moved into the former Ewell Monastery site, next to St Mary's Abbey, West Malling, in September 2004. The original Pilsdon Community remains in West Dorset, near Lyme Regis. The Community is open to visitors seven days a week. Anyone is welcome to come and join our daily prayers and enjoy our hospitality (enter through the double gates in Water Lane - parking inside or on street). If you wish to come and stay through need or interest, please contact us in advance. We have limited accommodation for those who are Wayfarers or find themselves homeless. We are a `dry house' - no alcohol or drugs - at all times. More details about our work and ministry on request. Please see our website www.pilsdonatmalling.org.uk

St Mary's is the parish church for the historic market town of West Malling. Our Vicar is Rev David Green.

Our style of worship is mostly based on Holy Communion and a liturgical style. We have a Choir and Organist for music. We enjoy Bible-based preaching and are glad to welcome people of all ages, including children. Our All-Age service takes place once a month with a more relaxed, informal style for the children and families and a Worship Group leading the singing.

If you've not been along before, why not come and give us a try?

Our church building is a great place in which to worship. The tower and the western part of the chancel remain from the original Norman church of the 11th Century. In 1200 the nave and chancel were rebuilt in the early English style. Lightning struck the spire in 1712 which led to a remodelling of the interior, but in 1901 that Georgian nave was pulled down and the new nave was built.
